Dynamic H2O

This is the journey of a water droplet from falling from the sky and into the Catskill Watershed. The droplets collect in reservoirs and travel via tunnels and aqueducts to New York City and out of your faucet. This outdoor space is 800 sq. ft. of hands-on interactives and cool colorful graphics. The story wraps around the exhibit on nine separate panels strung together in one continuous illustration. The change in scale from the Catskill mountain range to inside an apartment building, while also showing what is happing above and below the ground, presented a unique challenge.

With in the exhibit three “labs” provide a space for educator led projects and when not programmed, a shady self-guided field office for  families. Kids hang PVC tubes on a magnetic wall depicting the trip from the Ashoken Reservoir to the Hillview Reservoir in scale. The centerpiece of the exhibit is an interactive water table where kids pump the water out of the clouds and interrupt its travel all the way down to a Duplo-city scape.
